Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
The DEA announces the 14th National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. This initiative aims to provide a safe, secure, and environmentally responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for theft, abuse and trafficking of medications. This Saturdayfrom 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Merced County Sheriff’s Office will be providing a safe location to dispose of any unused, unwanted, and potentially dangerous expired prescription drugs. The drop off location will be in the parking lot of the Merced County Sheriff’s Office at 700 W. 22nd. St. in Merced.
Open House and Art Show
The Susan Regert Gallery will host a fall open house and art show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 6480 N. Highway 59, Merced. For more information, call 209-777-0685.
Trick or Treat for Unity in Merced
The Merced Police Department will host a “Trick or Treat for Unity” event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at the central police station parking lot, 611 W. 22nd St., Merced. Admission is free, but only kids will be given candy. The whole family is welcome and there will be special guests on hand to meet and greet everyone. Bring your own trick-or-treat bag and costume and celebrate with local public safety agencies. Fifth annual Merced Field of Honor
The Field of Honor will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4 through Sunday, Nov. 12 at the Merced College field at Yosemite and M Street. The public is invited to honor active-duty and military veterans and first responders by viewing, flying previously flown flags and purchasing new flags to honor loved ones. Opening ceremonies will take place in the Merced College theater at 2 p.m. Nov. 5 and a closing ceremony on the field at 4 p.m. Nov. 11 A flag retirement ceremony for worn flags will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 8. Merced Theater Foundation
The Merced Theater Foundation will host an elegant fund-raising dinner to raise money to complete important projects the historic theater at 6 p.m. Nov. 4. For more information, visit www.mercedtheatre.org/ or call 209-381-0100.
Farm-City Banquet
The Agribusiness Committee of Merced County will host a Farm-City Banquet to benefit Merced County high school students seeking education in an agricultural-related field. The banquet is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Merced County Fairgrounds Pavilion, 900 Martin Luther King Jr Way, Merced.
