CASA fundraiser

Court Appointed Special Advocates’ annual fundraiser, “The CASA Cup: A Night at the Races,” will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday at the Merced County Fairgrounds in Merced. Organizers promise it will be an evening with fabulous food and “authentic” horse racing. Tickets are $75 and table sponsorships are available. College for Kids

Merced College’s College for Kids will offer “Eggstronauts,” a class on space and rocket design, beginning June 15. The three-week class is meant to build teamwork while students deal with budgets and learn the rocket design necessary for safely transporting a raw egg. Sober grad volunteers

The Merced and Golden Valley Sober Grad committee are looking for volunteers to help provide a fun and safe place for 2015 graduating seniors. Graduation for Merced High School and Golden Valley will be June 4. Organizers need adult volunteers after the graduations to be at the joint Sober Grad festivities at Golden Valley High School. The Sober Grad event is from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Volunteers are needed for two hours, three hours or all night from 9:45 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. At least 200 volunteers are sought. Free venue rentals

The Pacheco Village and Pacheco Court Apartments in Los Banos offer free venue rentals. The rental includes a meeting space with a capacity of up to 60 and well-equipped club rooms with kitchens. The spaces are available for local clubs, organizations, churches and nonprofit agencies. Used eyeglasses

Livingston Lions Club has five new collection points for used eyeglasses in Livingston. Eyeglasses are being collected at the Livingston Rite Aid, Livingston Medical Center, True Value, Livingston Fitness and Liberty Market. Take any used eyeglasses to those boxes and they will be recycled to people in need around the world. For more information about the Livingston Lions Club, call Jill at (209) 489-7533.

Rides for veterans

Disabled American Veterans is looking for men and women to be volunteer drivers for veterans. Volunteering ensures that even those veterans living far from Veterans Affairs hospitals can make their appointments and not go without treatment. DAV provides a van and fuel.
