Atwater High Spring Showcase

Atwater High will showcase its art, drama, film, photography, graphic arts, floral design, metal garden art, hip hop club, band, and choir. The event is 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday in the social studies quad. There will be refreshments and activities. Donations will be accepted to support the arts but the event and activities are free.

Youth art show

The Mariposa Art Company will host its first Kute Academy art show at 6 p.m. Saturday. Part of the Week of the Young Child, the show features artwork of Merced County youths ages 2 to 19. There will also be a coloring contest and giveaways. The event is free. Mariposa Art Company is at 1637 M St. in downtown Merced. Club Mercedes enchilada sale

Club Mercedes is having its annual enchilada sale Saturday at Club Mercedes Hall, 569 W. Ninth St. in Merced. Enchiladas will be made with ground beef and corn or flour tortillas and sold by the dozen for $15. Rice and beans will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for $5 per container. The sale is takeout only and advance orders are requested. Orders can be picked up from 2 to 5 p.m. For tickets, call (209) 383-9906. The proceeds will benefit the club’s three Merced Youth Baseball teams and its California State University, Stanislaus, endowment fund.

Topic is researching ancestors

The Merced County Genealogical Society will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Gracey Room of Merced County Library, 2100 O St. Vauna Kelley will talk about researching English ancestors. The meeting is open to all.

Relay For Life at Merced College

Relay For Life will be April 25 at Don Odishoo Field at Merced College. Cancer survivors register at 7:30 a.m. on the 50-yard line at the Survivor’s Tent. They will then receive their free shirt. The kickoff begins at 8:45 a.m., followed by the survivors lap. The event lasts 24 hours, ending April 26 at 9 a.m. Family and friends are invited to celebrate and remember those touched by cancer.

Cheese, wine vinegar factory tours

The Merced/Mariposa California Retired Teachers’ Association will host a tour of the Hilmar Cheese Co. factory and the Classic Wine Vinegar Co. plant in Ceres on May 4. The reservation deadline is Sunday. Cost is $10 for members, $20 for nonmembers. For reservations, contact Lee Ann Applegate at (209) 617-1677 or leeannapplegate@comcast.net.

Sunrise Toastmasters

Sunrise Toastmasters, Chapter 4333, has moved its meetings to Paul’s Place Restaurant and Bakery at 2991 G. St. in Merced. Meetings are from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. Mondays. For details, call (209) 384-7128 or (209) 722-3975.
