Mini children’s opera

The Merced County Office of Education, Arts UC Merced Presents and the Betty Scalice Foundation will present “Who Stole B-flat?”, a children’s miniopera, on May 23 at 2 p.m. in Lakireddy Auditorium at UC Merced. “Who Stole B-flat?” is an original story full of mystery, beauty and hilarious interactive fun. Suggested donations for the public performance are $5 for adults and $3 for children. Tickets will be available at the door on the afternoon of the performance beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Christian recording artist

Nashville Christian recording artist Amy Shreve of Audio Abby Records will be performing in Merced on May 3. The performance will be at 10:45 a.m. at Faith Bible Church, 2222 E. Olive Ave., Merced. Faith Bible meets at the Adventist facility. This is a free performance. For more information, contact Frank Towler at (209) 489-2211.

‘Peter Pan’ in Atwater

Mitchell Senior Elementary’s drama department will present a 30-minute version of Sir J.M. Barrie’s classic tale “Peter Pan” at 7 p.m. May 1 in the cafeteria of the 1753 Fifth St. school. Free yoga in Merced

Free yoga in the park will return May 3 and be held every Sunday on a strip of grass along Bear Creek, between 28th and H streets. The class is taught by Gina Nardone. Bring water and a mat or towel. For more information, call (209) 385-6298.

Indoor youth soccer

The city of Merced’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Soccer Academy plan outdoor youth soccer every Saturday from June 6 to Aug. 8 for ages 7 to 14. The registration deadline is Monday. Indoor soccer will be offered for ages 3 to 6. Cost for both programs is $55, including a fee for the uniform. Register at City Hall, 678 W. 18th St., or call (209) 385-6298.

Healthy House special program

Healthy House will feature a program of Hmong fashion, with traditional music and dance, at its annual Spring Multicultural Dinner on May 16 at the Elks Lodge in Merced. Funds raised will support the African American Health Disparities Project and the Honor HUR Program (Honoring Human Rights for Ethnic Women and Girls). A social hour will kick off the event at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7. Tickets are $30 per person or $300 per table and are available at the Healthy House office, 301 W. l8th St., Suite 101, in Merced. Mario Granado Memorial Breakfast

The Mario Granado Memorial Breakfast will be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 3 at the fire station, 699 Broadway, Atwater. It will be a pancake and menudo breakfast. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under. All proceeds benefit the Mario Granado Scholarship Fund. The event is hosted by the state Department of Forestry and Fire Protection/Atwater Fire Departmart and the Granado family. For more information, call (209) 357-6352 or (209) 769-7684.
