Merced Gardens & Nursery
Merced Gardens & Nursery will present a free seminar on drought-tolerant landscaping at 11 a.m. Saturday at the nursery, 1007 Tahoe St., Merced. Presented by UC Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners, this seminar will focus on how to incorporate drought-tolerant plants into your landscaping for year-round “low water” color and beauty. Menudo at Club Mercedes
Club Mercedes, a nonprofit organization, serves menudo every Sunday at 569 W. Ninth St. in Merced. Serving time is 8 a.m. until noon or until the menudo sells out. Prices are $7 for a small bowl or $8 for a large bowl. The meal includes tortillas, condiments, coffee and pastries. Margaritas are $5 each. Indoor youth soccer
The city of Merced’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Soccer Academy plans to have outdoor youth soccer every Saturday from June 6 to Aug. 8 for ages 7 to 14. The registration deadline is Monday. Indoor soccer will also be offered for ages 3 to 6. Cost for both programs is $55 including a fee for the uniform. Camp Pacifica Benefit
The Lions Club Camp Pacifica Benefit Sporting Clays Tournament wiil take place May 2 at Rooster Ranch, 26166 Kelly Road, Hilmar. Camp Pacifica (camppacifica.org) serves hearing-impaired children ages 7-15 and provides summertime camping activities. Proceeds from the shooting clays tournament will benefit camper scholarships or fund camp repairs and maintenance. Alquist Arms of Turlock is sponsoring the event. All shooters will receive participation awards, and 15 class winners with each get $90 awards. Registration opens at 8 a.m. Contact Rooster Ranch at (209) 667-0483 for registration information.
Hmong fashion show
Healthy House will feature a program of Hmong fashion with traditional music and dance at its annual spring multicultural dinner on May 16 at the Elks Lodge in Merced. Money raised will support African American Health Disparities Project and the Honor HUR Program (Honoring Human Rights for Ethnic Women and Girls). Social hour is at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7. Tickets are $30 per person or $300 per table and are available at the Healthy House office, 301 W. l8th St., Suite 101, in Merced.
