Youth Boxing Fundraiser

Haro Bros Gym hosts a fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at 1851 Grogan Ave., Merced, to help three young boxers get to the National Silver Gloves Tournament in Kansas, Mo., where they will represent the Merced community. The fundraiser features food, drinks and sparring matches. All proceeds go directly to the kids. Donations are accepted as well. For more information, call 209-628-0937.

MS Support group

The local MS Support group will have their next meeting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, 500 Buena Vista Drive, Merced. The meetings are educational and empowering and all individuals with multiple sclerosis are encouraged to attend. For more information, call 209-631-7279.

Gov’t Offices Closed Monday

The Merced County Administration Building, and all city halls in Merced County will be closed Monday, Jan. 15 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Fire Chief to speak at Sierra Club

Cal Fire Merced County Chief Nancy Koerperich will address the Merced Group of the Sierra Club at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Merced United Methodist Church, 899 Yosemite Parkway. She will share details of last season's firefighting efforts, clean-up and salvage operations and the fire management plans for the year ahead. The public is invited to attend. Docent training

The Merced County Courthouse Museum is recruiting new volunteers. Docents serve as tour guides for visitors to the Courthouse Museum and help to educate the public about Merced County history. The next annual docent training session is 10 a.m. Jan. 20 at the Courthouse Museum, 21st and N streets. Coffee and breakfast rolls will be provided. AARP Meeting

The January meeting of the Merced Chapter of AARP will be held at 10 a.m. Jan 24 at the Merced Senior Center, 755 W. 15th St., Merced. The speaker will be from Merced County HSA Adult and Aging Services. Snacks will be provided. For more information, call 209-357-8206.

Cumbia Dance Lesson

Cumbia dance lesson will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Mondays in February at the Merced Senior Community Center 755 W. 15th St., Merced. No partner needed. For more information, call 209-628-0683.
