Church Women United
Church Women United in the Merced Area is hosting its annual May Friendship Day on Friday at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 1455 E. Yosemite Ave., Merced, with a potluck luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Theme is “Journey of the Caregiver.” Amie Marchini, owner of Park Merced and Mission Gardens Assisted Living, will be the guest speaker. Special guests will be recipients of community outreach grants that are given annually. Bring a dish to share and enjoy some fellowship. For more information, call 769-1884.
‘Peter Pan’ in Atwater
Mitchell Senior Elementary’s drama department will present a 30-minute version of the Sir J.M. Barrie’s classic tale “Peter Pan” at 7 p.m. Friday in the cafeteria of the 1753 Fifth St. school. Mini children’s opera
The Merced County Office of Education, Arts UC Merced Presents and the Betty Scalice Foundation will present “Who Stole B-flat?”, a children’s mini opera, on May 23 at 2 p.m. in Lakireddy Auditorium at UC Merced. “Who Stole B-flat?” is an original story full of mystery, beauty and hilarious interactive fun. Suggested donations for the public performance are $5 for adults and $3 for children. Tickets will be available at the door on the afternoon of the performance beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Livingston Lions Club
The Livingston Lions Club is having its annual yard sale and breakfast Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The yard sale is in the Livingston City Hall parking lot and the breakfast is next door at the Livingston Fire Department.
Merced SPCA benefit
The Merced SPCA is hold a garage sale at 681 Bobwhite Court in Merced on Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be lots of baby items, women’s clothing, furniture, appliances and much more. Proceeds go to Hines Hospice and the Merced SPCA. For more information, call (209) 233-1891.
Mental health meeting
Merced County’s Department of Mental Health is asking for public input on its services. Department officials and stakeholders will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Merced County Department of Mental Health, 1137 B St. This is an opportunity for the public to voice concerns and ask questions about programs.
