Court Appointed Special Advocates
Court Appointed Special Advocates of Merced County will begin a new volunteer advocate training class May 11. CASA is a nonprofit organization that trains volunteers to provide support and advocacy for the abused and neglected children in the Merced County Foster Care System. The information meetings are Wednesday at 1 and 5 p.m. Call (209) 722-CASA (2272) to reserve a seat.
National Day of Prayer observance
The Annual Observance of National Day of Prayer, first Thursday in May, will take place Thursday at Bob Hart Square from noon to 1 p.m. For more information, call (209) 723-2395.
Blues Bash at Club Mercedes
There will be a Blues Bash Friday at Club Mercedes, 569 W. Ninth St. Doors open at 6 p.m. and show begins at 8. The show features Mike Hammar and the Nails, with special guest Deja Blues. Proceeds benefit the club’s community projects.
Atwater FFA plant sale
The 10th annual Spring-Summer Plant Sale is Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Atwater High School Agriculture Department. For more information, go to the Atwater FFA website, www.AtwaterFFA.org
Peripheral Neuropathy Support Group
The Merced Peripheral Neuropathy Support Group’s next meeting is May 14 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Hoffmeister Center, 1920 Canal St. There will be a roundtable discussion, and informative handouts will be available. For more information, call Larry Frice at (209) 358-2045.
Merced College Retired Women
The Merced College Retired Women will hold its monthly luncheon at La Hacienda 2 on May 14, 11:30 a.m. No reservations are required for the no-host luncheon. The group meets monthly on the second Thursday of each month at La Hacienda 2. Call (209) 358-5376 for more information.
Atwater Garden Club spring tour
