Retired women

Peripheral neuropathy

Garden tour

Pancake breakfast
New Beginnings for Merced County Animals will hold a pancake breakfast from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Applebee’s. All-you-can-eat pancakes, bacon and choice of beverage will be served. Takeout orders are available. Tickets are $7.50 each and may be bought at Valley Animal Hospital, 58 W. 16th St.; Christina’s Fine Clothing in the Bear Creek Galleria; and Maciel & Co. at the mall. Genealogy meeting
The Merced County Genealogical Society will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Gracey Room, Merced County Library, 2100 O St. The guest speaker will be Kathryn Marshall, director of the Family History Center in Lodi. She will share how to research information online using various programs and provide other tips for researching family histories. The meeting is open to nonmembers.
Cemetery volunteers
The Merced Cemetery District is looking for volunteers to help honor veterans by placing a flag and a cross on the graves of our military heroes at 9 a.m. May 23. This will be in preparation for a Memorial Day ceremony. Meet at the main office at 1300 B St. Coffee and doughnuts will be served. Lunch will also be provided. Kids cooking class
Learn how to cook during the Merced County and city of Merced Parks and Community Services department’s free cooking course for seventh-, eighth- and ninth-graders. Classes are 9 to 10:30 a.m. June 16, 18, 23 and 25 at the Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th St. Preregistration is required and space is limited. Sign up by calling (209) 385-6298.
