Grazie America! From Italy to Merced

Merced County Historical Society’s newest book, Grazie America! From Italy to Merced County, will be released at 1 p.m. July 14 at the Courthouse Museum. This two-volume set, documenting the rich history of Merced County’s Italian American community, is based on the 2017 exhibition of the same title and features more than 130 personal stories. The retail price for the two-volume set is $25. On July 14, we will offer a release-date price of $22 (tax included). For more information, call the museum office at 209-723-2401.

Kids’ Day at the MAC

The Merced County Arts Council will host Kids’ Day at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center with Independence Day around the World from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. Merced High classmates from 1945 to 1955 are invited to join the '48 Class sponsors at their monthly lunch at 11:30 a.m. July 17 at the Elks Lodge 1910 M St. in Merced.

Art and Spirits Fun Night

Arbor Gallery will host Art and Spirits Fun Night featuring local artist, Carole Kamerer to benefit the Multicultural Art Center from 6-8pm, July 20 at the MAC, 645 W. Main St., Merced. For reservations, call 209-388-1090.

National Night Out in Merced

The Merced Police Department hosts the 35th annual National Night Out from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 7 in neighborhoods throughout the city. The nationwide event features law enforcement agencies spending time outdoors in neighborhoods for a variety of events including block parties, parades, flashlight walks, contests, youth activities and anti-crime rallies. The main event in Merced will be held at that time at Applegate Park and will include free food, Kiddieland rides, music, raffle prizes and public safety displays. Merced County Stand-Down

The Merced County Veterans Employment Committee will host a Stand-Down to benefit homeless or at risk of becoming homeless veterans from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 10 at the American Legion post 83 939 W. Playhouse Merced Gala

Playhouse Merced will host their annual Gala Event to benefit live theater and educational arts programs, beginning at 6 p.m. on Aug. 18 in Downtown Merced at Bob Hart Square. For more information, contact the theater box office at 209-725-8587.
