Vacation Bible School in Atwater

The Amazing Race Vacation Bible School will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. from today through Thursday at Victory Baptist Church in Atwater 1280 Sierra Vista St., Atwater. Drop offs and rides are available. The classes are free. Register online at www.vbcatwater.com.

Merced AARP Speaker

Merced City Manager Steve Carrigan will address the Merced AARP at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Merced Senior Center, 755 W. 15th St., Merced. A catered Italian food luncheon will be available for $5 for members and $8 for non-members. Reservation are required by July 18 and can be made by calling Reba at 209-357-8206.

Catfish Dinner

The La Grange Odd Fellows host the 11th Annual Catfish Dinner to benefit Lafayette Lodge No. 65 from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday the IOOF Hall, 30018 Yosemite Blvd., La Grange for $15 per plate or for take out, with special child prices. Gospel concert

Julie Eichelberger presents Julie-N-Friends gospel music concert series at 6 p.m. July 29 at the Christian Life Center, 650 E. Olive Ave. in Merced, It’s free. National Night Out in Merced

The Merced Police Department hosts the 35th annual National Night Out from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 7 in neighborhoods throughout the city. The nationwide event features law enforcement agencies spending time outdoors in neighborhoods for a variety of events including block parties, parades, flashlight walks, contests, youth activities and anti-crime rallies. The main event in Merced will be held at that time at Applegate Park and will include free food, Kiddieland rides, music, raffle prizes and public safety displays. Skate park ceremony

The Merced BHC All Wheel Skate Park will have its grand opening ceremony is 5 p.m. Aug 10 at McNamara Park, 1040 Canal St. This event is for the entire family , and offers food, music, raffles, activities, and a pro BMX and skateboard demo.
