Free Music Event in Merced
Beachwood/Franklin Committee 4 Improvement presents Cynthia Huddleston and The Soul Galaxy Band. The group will perform from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at 2040 Lobo Ave. , Merced. Summer Family Health Festival
Castle Family Health Centers hosts its 11th annual Summer Family Health Festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Castle Clinic, 3605 Hospital Road, Atwater. The Diabetes 2k Walk will be held the same day from 8 to 8:30 a.m. Event organizers will provide free health screenings for Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Hearing, Breast Exams, Vision, Glaucoma and Dental for children. Music, dance group, face painting and other funs and games for children will be available, along with free lunch, raffles and other refreshments. Rib cook off
Club Mercedes will host its fifth annual BBQ Rib Cook Off beginning at 7:30 a.m.Aug. 4 at the club, 569 W. Ninth Street, Merced. Price is $50 per team. Cash prizes to the winners. Animal fundraiser
New Beginnings for Merced County Animals is having a fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 6 at Merced’s Chipotle, 3110 R St. New Beginnings will receive a portion of all sales that day as long as patrons tell the cashier they are there for New Beginnings before making the payment. Proceeds will benefit animals of Merced County.
National Night Out in Merced
The Merced Police Department hosts the 35th annual National Night Out from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 7 in neighborhoods throughout the city. The nationwide event features law enforcement agencies spending time outdoors in neighborhoods for a variety of events including block parties, parades, flashlight walks, contests, youth activities and anti-crime rallies. The main event in Merced will be held at that time at Applegate Park and will include free food, Kiddieland rides, music, raffle prizes and public safety displays.
