Groundwater sustainability planning workshop

A groundwater sustainability planning workshop is set for 6 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 2 in the Sam Pipes Room of the Merced Civic Center, 678 W. 18th St., Merced. Agencies want to hear from the public on water resource management for the area and will discuss the management plan and what it means for the future of groundwater in the Merced subbasin. Rummage Sale in Livingston

Christian Spiritual Day Retreat

Women’s Christian Spiritual Day Retreat is set for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 4 at the United Methodist Church, 899 Yosemite Parkway. All women are invited to experience a day of enlightenment and discoveries. Bring your favorite cup, mug or something similar that can be used for an exercise. Lunch is pot-luck. Skate park ceremony

The Merced BHC All Wheel Skate Park will have its grand opening ceremony is 5 p.m. Aug 10 at McNamara Park, 1040 Canal St. This event is for the entire family , and offers food, music, raffles, activities, and a pro BMX and skateboard demo. Golf tourney

Merced's chapter of the Mexican American Golf Association will be hosting its annual Golf Tournament at Rancho Del Rey on Aug. 19. The cost is $70. Registration will be at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Proceeds will help Merced County high school golf teams. An optional closest to the pin, and most accurate drive will be available for $5.

Merced Police Citizens Police Academy

The Merced Police Department is offering a free Citizens Police Academy. Classes for the 11-week program will be held weekly on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. starting Sept. 5 at the central police station, 611 West 22nd St., Merced. The deadline to enroll is 4 p.m. Aug. 24 or when the class reaches 28 participants.
