Farmers Insurance Group luncheon

Farm Bureau to honor teachers
Merced County Farm Bureau will host its fourth annual Teacher Appreciation Wine and Cheese Night at the Merced Fruit Barn at 4526 E. Highway 140, Merced, on Friday. Bus trip to San Francisco
Merced College Community Services is taking a bus to the North Beach Festival, one of the country’s original outdoor festivals that reflects Italian culture and history, in San Francisco, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 13. The trip is $55 per person. The meeting place is the Merced College Business Resource Center, 630 W. 19th St. To register, call (209) 384-6224.
Cooking class for kids
Learn how to cook during the Merced County and the city of Merced Recreation Program’s free cooking course for seventh-, eighth- and ninth-graders. Classes are 9 to 10:30 a.m. on June 16, 18, 23 and 25 at the Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th St. Preregistration is required and space is limited. Sign up by calling (209) 385-6298.
Meeting on Merced districts
The Independent Districting Advisory Committee, which will oversee the creation of six Merced City Council voting districts, is asking for residents to attend its meetings and provide input on its plans. Three first-round community meetings will be held in various locations within the city to ask for public input. The next meeting is 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Rivera Middle School, 945 Buena Vista Drive.
Senior social dance
The May Social Dance will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th St. Admission is $8 per person and includes a tango lesson, which will be taught at 1:15 p.m. The open dance is 2 to 5 p.m. with live music provided by the band Just Friends. For more, call (209) 723-0839.
Veterans plan Memorial Day event
The Livingston/Delhi Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 8327 and the Ladies Auxiliary will hosting their Annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Livingston Memorial Park at Park and Main streets. The ceremony will take place on the traditional Memorial Day, Saturday at 5 p.m. Immediately following the ceremony, refreshments will be served at the Veterans Memorial Building at Seventh Street and Peach Avenue.
