Town hall meetings
Community members are invited to attend upcoming town hall events in Merced, Livingston and Los Banos. The meetings will provide information on changes to Community Access to Recovery Services, or CARS, regarding the way community members will seek access to treatment services beginning July 1. The Livingston meeting is scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Prusso Community Center, 848 Prusso St. The meeting in Los Banos runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at 40 G St. The Merced meetings are set for 1-2:30 p.m. and 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at 1137 B St.
NAUS Meeting at Castle Air Museum
The National Association for Uniformed Services, H. Wayne Hein Chapter 18, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Castle Air Museum banquet room. The speakers will be Phillip May, president of the Merced County Realtors Association, and Ed Walters of Guild Mortgage Co. For additional information, call (209) 358-2045.
Genealogy lecture
Barbara Washburn is the speaker this month at the Merced County Genealogical Society meeting. Washburn is a family history specialist with more than 20 years of experience. Her topic is “Finding Lost Cousins and Living Relatives.” The meeting is at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Gracey Room, Merced County Library, 2100 O St. The meeting is open to the public.
Chamber mixer
Los Banos Chamber of Commerce members are invited to a mixer from 5:30-7 p.m. June 25 at Toscano RV Center, 2531 E. Pacheco Blvd. Bring a business card to enter a raffle.
Advocates for children
Court Appointed Special Advocates of Merced County will begin a new volunteer advocate training class June 29. The nonprofit CASA trains volunteers to provide support and advocacy for abused and neglected children in the Merced County foster care system. For more information, call CASA at (209) 722-2272.
Dancing For Birth Class
Merced College Community Services will be offering the class “Dancing for Birth and Post-Partum” beginning July 20 and ending Aug. 10. The class runs from 6:30-7:30 p.m. each Monday. The cost is $25 per participant. For more information, call (209) 384-6224 or email communitysvc@mccd.edu.
Giants vs. A’s trip
Merced College Community Services is offering a bus trip to see the San Francisco Giants play the Oakland A’s at AT&T Park. The trip is from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 25.
