Le Grand Farmers Market

The Le Grand Certified Farmers Market will run Tuesday nights through Aug. 4 near the Pizza Factory in Le Grand, 13208 Le Grand Road. Vendors operate from 5 to 7 p.m. offering fresh fruit, vegetables, kettle corn, soaps and more. Live entertainment begins at 6 p.m., starting with Cottonwood Creek on opening night, which is Tuesday. Market visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair for the show.

VFW Breakfast Fundraiser

The Livingston-Delhi VFW will host a fundraiser in Turlock from 8 to 11 a.m. June 28 at the Turlock Hometown Buffet. Tickets are available for $10 each from the VFW and auxiliary members and must be purchased prior to the event. Proceeds will go to maintain the memorial in Livingston Memorial Park and to the group’s Community Program Fund.

Merced Sun-Star business awards

The Merced Sun-Star has launched a new program aimed at recognizing the community’s best businesses and their owners. The Excellence in Business program will grant eight awards to area businesses, and one person in the community will receive the Hall of Fame award. Winners will be announced July 29 in the Sun-Star. Advocates for children

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Merced County will begin a new volunteer advocate training class June 29. The nonprofit CASA trains volunteers to provide support and advocacy for abused and neglected children in the Merced County foster care system. For more information, call CASA at (209) 722-2272.

Merced College aikido class

Merced College Community Services will be offering aikido classes beginning July 7 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through Aug. 27. The cost is $65 per participant. For more information, call (209) 384-6224 or email communitysvc@mccd.edu.

Volunteer drivers

Disabled American Veterans is looking for men and women to be volunteer drivers for veterans. Volunteering ensures that veterans living far from Veterans Affairs hospitals can make their appointments and not go without the treatment they need. DAV provides a van and fuel.
