Hamburger Night

The Livingston-Delhi VFW will host Hamburger Night from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Livingston Veterans Memorial Building, 1605 Seventh St., in Livingston. The event is open to the public. The menu includes hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fish sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs and chili. Prices range from $2.50 to $5 per meal. All proceeds go to support community programs. Livingston car show and talent registrations

The Livingston 4th of July Committee is accepting car show and talent registrations. The festival will be held July 3 through July 5 at Max Foster Sports Complex, 2600 Walnut Ave. in Livingston. The event will provide a fairlike atmosphere with a giant carnival, a car show, live bands, a talent show, food and craft vendors, and the “biggest Fireworks Spectacular in the Valley.” For more information, visit https://www.livingston4thofjuly.com.

Snelling Homecoming Car Show registration

Registration is underway for the seventh annual Snelling Homecoming Car Show. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 12 at Henderson Park in Snelling. Merced Sun-Star business awards

The Merced Sun-Star has launched a new program aimed at recognizing the community’s best businesses and their owners. The Excellence in Business program will grant eight awards to area businesses, and one person in the community will receive the Hall of Fame award. Winners will be announced July 29 in the Sun-Star. Advocates for children

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Merced County will begin a new volunteer advocate training class June 29. The nonprofit CASA trains volunteers to provide support and advocacy for abused and neglected children in the Merced County foster care system. For more information, call CASA at (209) 722-2272.

Merced College aikido class

Merced College Community Services will be offering aikido classes beginning July 7 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through Aug. 27. The cost is $65 per participant. For more information, call (209) 384-6224 or email communitysvc@mccd.edu.

Free coed baseball leagues

Registration is underway for free co-ed baseball leagues for children in Merced County, ages 5 to 18. Practices began Monday, but children may sign up through June 30 at jrgiants.org. Youths 14 to 18 play at Atwater High School and Winton Park. Participants under 14 play at Franklin or Joe Stefani elementary schools. Coaches and volunteers are needed.
