Merced County CASA seeking shoe donations
Court Appointed Special Advocates of Merced County has launched a fundraiser seeking donations of old shoes, slippers, flip-flops, cleats, roller skates. The shoes support the program as well as individuals in developing nations such as Ghana. Shoes can be dropped off at the CASA office, 2824 Park Ave., Suite A. Hamburger Night
The Livingston-Delhi VFW will host Hamburger Night from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Livingston Veterans Memorial Building, 1605 Seventh St., in Livingston. The event is open to the public. The menu includes hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fish sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs and chili. Prices range from $2.50 to $5 per meal. All proceeds go to support community programs. Livingston car show and talent registrations
The Livingston 4th of July Committee is accepting car show and talent registrations. The festival will be held July 3-5 at Max Foster Sports Complex, 2600 Walnut Ave., Livingston. The event will provide a fairlike atmosphere with a giant carnival, a car show, live bands, talent show, food and craft vendors, and the “biggest Fireworks Spectacular in the Valley.” For more information, go to www.livingston4thofjuly.com.
Snelling Homecoming Car Show registration
Registration is underway for the seventh annual Snelling Homecoming Car Show. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 12 at Henderson Park in Snelling. Free co-ed baseball leagues
Registration is underway for free co-ed baseball leagues for children in Merced County, ages 5 to 18. Practices began Monday, but children may sign up through June 30 at www.jrgiants.org. Children ages 14 to 18 play at Atwater High School and Winton Park. Participants under 14 play at Franklin or Joe Stefani elementary schools. Coaches and volunteers are needed. Giants vs. A’s trip
Merced College Community Services is offering a bus trip to see the San Francisco Giants play the Oakland A’s at AT&T Park. The trip is from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. Merced High School class of 2000 Reunion
The Merced High School Class of 2000 will have its 15-year reunion from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the Branding Iron Restaurant, 640 W. 16th St. Tickets are $35. Volunteer drivers
Disabled American Veterans is looking for men and women to be volunteer drivers for veterans. Volunteering ensures that veterans living far from Veterans Affairs hospitals can make their appointments and not go without the treatment they need. DAV provides a van and fuel.
