Merced College Retired Women

Merced College Retired Women will hold their monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. July 9 at La Hacienda 2, El Portal Plaza, 3355 G St. No reservations are required for the no-host luncheon. The group meets the second Thursday of each month at the same location. For more information, call 209-358-5376.

Merced Senior Social Club enchilada lunch

The Merced Senior Social Club will host an enchilada lunch, catered by the BBQ Pit, at 11 a.m. July 10 during its regular meeting at 755 W. 15th St. The cost is $5 for members. For more information, call 209-383-6057. The club’s scheduled meeting Friday has been canceled.

NAUS meeting at Castle Air Museum

The National Association for Uniformed Services, H. Wayne Hein Chapter 18, will meet at 10 a.m. July 18 at the Castle Air Museum banquet room. Merced library summer sale

The Friends of the Merced County Public Library is having its summer sale inside the main branch office, 2100 O St. The sale runs from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, ending in August. Participants can fill a bag with hardback books for $3. Children’s books, magazines, CDs and DVDs will be available. All proceeds go to buy new materials for the county library.

Merced Camera Club

Successful Thinkers Network

Support group for families with special-needs children

Challenged Family Resource Center support group for families who have children with disabilities meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the last Wednesday of each month at 827 W. 20th St. A children’s play group is offered at the same location from 11 a.m. to noon every Tuesday. SCORE business counseling

SCORE is a national nonprofit organization that will provide no-cost counseling to small businesses, and is joining with the Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce to provide this service to anyone needing business counseling. National Alliance on Mental Illness

Merced County’s branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness holds biweekly support groups for families affected by serious mental illness. For more information, call 209-381-6844 and a volunteer will contact you within 48 hours.

Drivers sought to help veterans

Disabled American Veterans is looking for men and women to be volunteer drivers for veterans. Volunteering ensures that even those veterans living far from Veterans Affairs hospitals can make their appointments and not go without the treatment they need. DAV provides van and fuel.
