Merced Senior Social Club enchilada lunch

The Merced Senior Social Club will host an enchilada lunch, catered by the BBQ Pit, at 11 a.m. Friday during its regular meeting at 755 W. 15th St. The cost is $5 for members. For more information, call 209-383-6057.

Military appreciation day at Castle Air Museum

Castle Air Museum officials will host a military appreciation event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the Air Museum, 5050 Santa Fe Drive in Atwater. Four new vintage military aircraft exhibits will be dedicated the same day. Admission is free for active-duty and military veterans. A tour of the museum’s presidential aircraft will also be available for $10. The aircraft was used as Air Force One by Presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton.

Country concert

Jackson Michelson, a country singer-songwriter whose tour has taken him across the nation, will perform at 8 p.m. Saturdayat Vista Ranch and Cellars, 7326 E. Highway 140. Concert tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. First come, first served for seating. Attendees are encouraged to bring camping chairs and blankets. Book sale in Los Banos

St. Alban’s Anglican Church will host a quality used-book sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, 401 L St. in Los Banos. Proceeds will benefit the church’s foreign missions.

Livingston youth soccer registration

The Livingston Recreation Department will be offering a recreation youth soccer league. Registration will be held 9 a.m. to noon Saturdayat Livingston City Hall, 1416 C St. Registration forms can be picked up at City Hall, the Livingston Recreation Office or at www.livingstoncity.com. The season runs August through October. All games will be played Saturdays at the soccer field on Walnut Avenue. Player registration fee is $57 and includes a jersey, shorts, socks, ball and a trophy. There are divisions for ages 3 to 14. Coaches and sponsors are needed for all divisions. Snelling Homecoming Car Show registration

Registration is underway for the seventh annual Snelling Homecoming Car Show. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Henderson Park in Snelling. Merced Sun-Star business awards

The Merced Sun-Star has launched a new program aimed at recognizing the community’s best businesses and their owners. The Excellence in Business program will grant eight awards to area businesses, and one person in the community will receive the Hall of Fame award. Winners will be announced July 29 in the Sun-Star. To nominate a business or a person, click here. The deadline to submit nominations is Thursday.

Musical event, open mic at American Legion

An exciting night of music awaits fans at 6 p.m. July 18 at the American Legion in Merced, 939 W. Main St. Guitarist John Albano will be the featured artist, accompanied by pianist Darrell Devaurs. Albano and Devaurs will entertain for the first hour and then the stage will be open for others to share their talents. Tri-tip sandwiches with potato salad will be available for $6. Proceeds from food and beverage sales go to support our veterans and youth programs. No cover charge and the event is open to the public. For information, call 209-658-2663.

Harvest of Hope charitable dinner

Catholic Charities Merced will host its first Harvest of Hope event Aug. 28 at St. Patrick’s Parish, 671 E. Yosemite Ave. in Merced. No-host cocktail at 6 p.m. followed by a barbecue dinner at 7 p.m. The event will raise funds to help feed the hungry, shelter the homeless and other causes. Organizers are seeking sponsors for the event. Individual tickets are $75 apiece. For more information or to buy tickets, call 209-386-3718.
