Christmas in July
Veritas Parlor 75 of the Merced Native Daughters of the Golden West will present Christmas in July from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, 899 Yosemite Parkway, Merced. There will be handmade holiday crafts, breads, cookies, jams and jellies. A silent auction and second-time-around tables will be available. A tea luncheon is also planned for a $10 donation. Gospel concert
Bev McCann Ministries presents an evening of gospel music at 7 p.m. July 31 at Merced Theatre, 301 W. Main St. Tickets are $15; children 12 and younger are admitted free. Chicken Dinner-To-Go orders
Yosemite Gateway Council of the Blind is holding its annual Barbecue Chicken Dinner-To-Go on Aug. 5. Pickup is available from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at 1240 D St. in Merced. Orders can be placed by emailing yosemitegatewayccb@gmail.com or leaving a message at 209-722-8118.
Summer Family Health Festival in Atwater
Castle Family Health Centers will be having its eighth annual Summer Family Health Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 8 at 3605 Hospital Road in Atwater. Admission is free. The event offers free health screenings for vision, hearing, diabetes, blood pressure, breast exams and dental for children. Sports physicals are $25 each. AARP day trip
AARP Merced Chapter 282 is planning a day trip to Roaring Camp Railroads on Aug. 11. There will be a historic narrated excursion on a 100-year-old steam train to Bear Mountain. The cost of the trip is $65 and open to the public. The train and bus will be wheelchair accessible. Seating is limited; deadline for reservations is Aug. 3. Livingston Lions Club collecting glasses
Livingston Lions Club has five new collection points for used eyeglasses in Livingston. Eyeglasses are being collected at the Rite Aid, Livingston Medical Center, True Value, Livingston Fitness and Liberty Market. Drivers sought to help veterans
Disabled American Veterans is looking for men and women to be volunteer drivers for veterans. Volunteering ensures that even those veterans living far from veterans hospitals can make their appointments and not go without the treatment they need. DAV provides van and fuel. Atwater Class of 1980 reunion
Atwater High Class of 1980 will have its 35-year reunion Sept. 5 at Isabella’s Bar & Grill in Atwater. The dinner-dance party begins at 6 p.m. with no-host cocktails; dinner is at 7. Merced High Class of 1980 reunion
The Merced High School 1980 Class Reunion – 35th Anniversary will be held 6 to 11 p.m. Sept. 19 outdoors under the stars at Vista Ranch and Cellars, 7326 E. Highway 140, Merced. A casual event, the price is $12 per person and includes use of the venue, music and all amenities of the venue. There will be a no-host bar and no-host dinner.
