Gospel music concert

Bev McCann Ministries presents an evening of gospel music at 7 p.m. Friday at the Merced Theatre, 301 W. Main St. Tickets are $15, and children 12 and younger are admitted free. Rummage sale space

Applications are being accepted for the Valley Christian Center’s Community Rummage Sale. The sale is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Valley Christian Center parking lot at I and Seventh streets in Los Banos. Chicken Dinner-To-Go orders

Yosemite Gateway Council of the Blind is holding its annual “Barbecue Chicken Dinner-To-Go” on Aug. 5. Pickup is available from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at 1240 D St. in Merced. Orders can be placed by emailing yosemitegatewayccb@gmail.com or leaving a message at 209-722-8118.

Blood drive

Local residents can make an impact in the lives of patients in need by donating blood during the BloodSource Summer Classic in Merced from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 7 at BloodSource Merced, 382 E. Yosemite Ave. Participants will receive a commemorative Summer Classic T-shirt, MyBloodSource Rewards and Togo’s sandwiches.

Summer Family Health Festival in Atwater

Castle Family Health Centers will be having the eighth annual Summer Family Health Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 8 at 3605 Hospital Road in Atwater. The event offers free health screenings for vision, hearing, diabetes and blood pressure, as well as breast exams and dental for children. Sports physicals are $25 each and can be obtained from Aug. 3 through Aug. 8. The number to call is 209-381-2027. AARP day trip

AARP Merced Chapter 282 is planning a day trip to Roaring Camp Railroads on Aug. 11. There will be a historic narrated excursion on a 100-year-old steam train to Bear Mountain. The cost of the trip is $65 and it is open to the public. The train and bus will be wheelchair accessible. Seating is limited and the deadline for reservations is Aug. 3. Merced College Retired Women luncheon

The Merced College Retired Women will hold its monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at La Hacienda 2 on Aug. 13. No reservations are required for the no-host luncheon. Harvest of Hope charitable dinner

Catholic Charities Merced will host its first Harvest of Hope event Aug. 28 at St. Patrick’s Parish, 671 E. Yosemite Ave. in Merced. No-host cocktails at 6 p.m., followed by a barbecue dinner at 7. The event will raise funds to help feed the hungry, shelter the homeless and other causes. Organizers are seeking sponsors for the event. Individual tickets are $75.
