Merced National Night Out
The Merced Police Department will host its National Night Out from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Applegate Park, 1045 W. 25th St. in Merced. The event emphasizes the importance of neighborhood watch groups and will feature police and fire vehicles, information booths, free food, raffle prizes, free rides at Kiwanis Kiddlieland and more. Le Grand Market
The Le Grand Certified Farmers Market will run Tuesday near the Pizza Factory, 13208 Le Grand Road. Vendors operate from 5 to 7 p.m. offering fresh fruit, vegetables, kettle corn, soaps and more. Live entertainment begins at 6 p.m., starting with Cottonwood Creek on opening night, which is next week. Market visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair for the show.
Business ribbon-cutting in Los Banos
The Los Banos Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony 10 a.m. Tuesday for RentPartyStuff.com, at 1125 Fifth St. in Los Banos. For more information, call 209-826-2495.
Story hour
The Rotary Club Wee Wigglers story hour is at 10 a.m. every Thursday at the public library in Los Banos, and the Cesar Chavez Committee’s Lectura para Niños is at 10 a.m. Saturdays. The library has Wi-Fi and 3M cloud technology available. The Summer Reading Program continues through Aug. 8. It is not too late to sign up to read books and receive prizes. All children are welcome, and adults can also be part of the program.
Health fair Saturday in Atwater
Castle Family Health Centers will hold its eighth annual Summer Family Health Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 3605 Hospital Road in Atwater; admission is free. The event offers free health screenings for vision, hearing, diabetes and blood pressure, as well as breast exams and dental for children. Sports physicals are $25 each and can be obtained Monday through Saturday; call 209-381-2027. Helping animals
New Beginnings of Merced needs volunteers to foster kittens, dogs or puppies, and help with photographing shelter animals and transporting animals to rescue organizations. Call 209-769-2122. Children’s play group in Merced
Challenged Family Resource Center is offering a play group for children up to 5 years old from 11 a.m. to noon each Tuesday at 827 W. 20th St. in Merced. Call 209-385-5314.
Merced County CASA seeking shoe donations
Court Appointed Special Advocates of Merced County has launched a fundraiser seeking donations of old shoes, slippers, flip-flops, cleats and roller skates. The shoes support the program as well as individuals in developing nations such as Ghana. Shoes can be dropped off at the CASA office, 2824 Park Ave., Suite A.
