St. Anthony Preschool Orientation Thursday
St. Anthony Preschool will host an orientation for new and interested families at 7 p.m. Thursday in the preschool building at the school, 1801 Winton Way in Atwater. Upcoming class teaches dance for birth
Merced College Community Services will be offering the class “Dancing for Birth and Post-Partum” beginning Monday. The class runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. each week. The cost is $25 per participant. For more information, call 209-384-6224 or email communitysvc@mccd.edu.
Merced-Atwater Tea Party meeting
The Merced-Atwater Tea Party regular monthly meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Atwater Memorial Building, Fifth Street and Broadway Avenue in Atwater. The speaker for the evening will be Stan Thurston, mayor of Merced. The group will also conduct its monthly straw poll for the presidential candidates. This event is open to to the public.
Merced Elks golf tournament
The Merced Elks Lodge will hold a charity golf tournament Oct. 17 at Rancho Del Rey Golf Course, 5250 Green Sands Ave., Atwater. Check-in time is 8 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9. Lunch will be available at the end of the tournament. There will be raffle prizes, team prizes and closest-to-the-hole prizes. Cost is $75 and includes green fees, cart and lunch. Gospel concert in Merced
Julie Eichelberger will present another Julie-N-Friends gospel music concert at 6 p.m. Aug. 30. The free event will take place at the Christian Life Center, 650 E. Olive Ave. in Merced. The guests for this Sunday evening gospel sing will include the Evidence Quartet of Yorba Linda, the Merced-based host group Bridge Of Grace, and, coming out of retirement for a special appearance in Merced, the Johnson Family Singers. Annual Livingston Sweet Potato Festival
The city of Livingston will host its annual Sweet Potato Festival on Oct. 2-4 to celebrate the sweet potato harvest at the Max Foster Sports Complex, 2600 Walnut Ave. in Livingston. The Recreation Department is looking for vendors and volunteers for this year’s event. Discount carnival tickets are on sale at City Hall beginning Sept. 1.
