UC Merced Journey 5K Fund Run

The UC Merced Alumni Association and Athletics and Recreation will host the inaugural UC Merced Journey 5K Fund Run on Saturday to celebrate the campus’s 10th anniversary. The event begins at 9 a.m., and parking is free. Students, staff and faculty members, alumni and community members are invited to participate. All proceeds from the run will support student scholarships. The goal is to raise $2,500, which will be matched 3-to-1. Cotton Festival in Dos Palos

Martinez Quartet concert in Merced

Spend a Sunday afternoon listening to the Martinez Quartet play music from the big-band era. This toe-tapping afternoon will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 13 in the Merced Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St. Advance tickets are $12 or $15 at the door. World Dance classes
