Clogging classes

Merced College Retired Women
The Merced College Retired Women will hold its monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at La Hacienda 2, 3355 G St. No reservations are required for the no-host luncheon. The group meets monthly the second Thursday at La Hacienda 2.
Storytime at Barnes & Noble
Barnes & Noble will host a Storytime for Kids event at 11 a.m. Saturday at 1720 W. Olive Ave. Children can hear the story “Llama Llama Gram and Grandpa,” by Anna Dewdney. The event is free. For more information, call 209-386-0571.
Martinez Quartet concert
Spend a Sunday afternoon listening to the Martinez Quartet play music from the big-band era. This toe-tapping afternoon will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St. Advance tickets are $12; $15 at the door. Atwater Community Cat Network film
The Atwater Community Cat Network, a trap-neuter-return program for feral cats in Atwater, will host a screening of the award-winning film “Redemption” at 6 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Atwater VFW, 1388 Broadway Ave. in Atwater. The film, by no-kill coalition founder Nathan Winograd, is about the no-kill movement. A $5 donation would be appreciated. For more information, call 209-683-3623.
Beers and Brats dinner
Merced Mayor Pro Tem Josh Pedrozo will host his annual Beers and Brats dinner 5:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Merced Fruit Barn, 4526 E. Highway 140. All-you-can-eat sausages, Portuguese beans, rolls, salad and beverages will be served for $10 per person. Takeout orders will be available.
Stephan Gray golf tournament
The 10th annual Stephan Gray Memorial Fund/Merced Police Officers Association Golf Tournament tees off at 8 a.m. Sept. 26 at the Rancho Ddel Rey Golf Club, 5250 Green Sands Ave. in Atwater. The cost is $100 per person. Sponsorships are available for $100 and $250. For more information, call 209-756-2422.
Advocate for children
Court Appointed Special Advocates of Merced County will begin a new volunteer advocate training class Sept. 28. CASA is a nonprofit organization that trains volunteers to provide support and advocacy for abused and neglected children in the Merced County foster care system. These children have been removed from their homes through no fault of their own and need a consistent adult in their lives. For more information, call 209-722-2272.
