Beers and Brats dinner in Merced

Merced Mayor Pro Tem Josh Pedrozo will host his annual “Beers and Brats” dinner 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Merced Fruit Barn, 4526 E. Highway 140 in Merced. All-you-can-eat sausages, Portuguese beans, rolls, salad and beverages will be served for $10 per person. Takeout orders available.

Parkinson’s Support Group in Merced

Kay Spear of the Merced County Veteran Service Office will address the Parkinson’s Support Group at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mission Gardens, 1450 E. 27th St. in Merced.

POW/MIA Ceremony at Castle

Castle Air Museum and the VFW’s 13th District will host a National POW/MIA Day Ceremony at 1 p.m. Friday at the museum, 5050 Santa Fe Drive in Atwater. The community is invited to attend the ceremony honoring those former prisoners of war and the large number of military men and women who remain missing. ‘Light Up the Lantern’ for at-risk youths in Merced

The UC Merced Police Department is set to host its annual “Light Up the Lantern” event Saturday to support the campus Police Mentor Program. The program benefits 200 Merced fourth-grade students and operates solely on grant and private funding. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. in the solar breezeway of the Science and Engineering Building 2 with a reception and silent auction. A dinner and live auction begin at 6:30 p.m. The price is $40 per person. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Reserve online at giving.ucmerced.edu/LUTL-2015. Storytime at Barnes & Noble Merced

Barnes & Noble will host a Storytime for Kids event at 11 a.m. Saturday at its Merced location, 1720 W. Olive Ave. Children can hear the story, “Bug in a Vacuum,” by Melanie Watt. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 209-386-0571.

Merced Elks Park Breakfast

Merced Elks Park will be serving biscuits and gravy from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Elk’s Park, 3600 Wardrobe Ave. in Merced. The menu also includes scrambled eggs, hash browns, fresh fruit, orange juice and coffee. Elks Park benefits local youth charities. Donations of $6 for adults, $3 for kids are appreciated. El Nido School’s 100th Celebration

El Nido School’s centennial celebration will be held 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 26 at El Nido School, 161 E. El Nido Road. All are invited to attend. Event featured catered tri-tip and chicken lunch. Belly Dance Fitness Levels I & II

Black Oak Casino Bus Trip

Youth Behavior Issues Class

NAMI Basics is a six-week class for parents and caregivers of children whose behavior problems have become alarming. Basics is for families looking for help, education, and support coping with their child’s problems. Basics begins Oct. 1 at 5:30 p.m. at 480 E. 13th St. in Merced.
