Family Movie Night Friday
Hinds Hospice and Stratford Evans funeral home will host a family movie night from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Merced County Fairgrounds Outdoor Theater, 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way. A screening of “Monsters University” will start promptly at 7:30 p.m. A concession stand and family activities, such as face painting, will be available.
Boys & Girls Club seeks alumni
The Boys & Girls Club of Merced County is searching for alumni. In the U.S., 11 million kids and teens leave school unsupervised and unsafe, with no place to go every afternoon. Alumni can help by becoming a Member for Life. If you attended a Boys & Girls Club, or if you’re a friend of the Club, go to www.bgcalum.org to become a registered Alumni & Friends Club member.
Merced College Industrial Program

La Grange Odd Fellows
The Odd Fellows of LaFayette Lodge #65 plan three events in October at the La Grange IOOF Hall, 30018 Yosemite Blvd. A spaghetti dinner and raffle is 3 to 7 p.m. Oct. 3. Food is $10 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12. A breakfast is planned 7 to 11 a.m. Oct. 11. That meal is $6. Another breakfast is 6 to 10 a.m. Oct. 17, and is also $6. Master Gardener workshop
The Master Gardeners of Merced County will host a workshop on landscaping with “water wise and native plants” from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 10 at the Merced County Cooperative Extension Office, 2145 Wardrobe Ave., Merced. NAACP banquet
Merced County’s NAACP Chapter 1047 plans its annual Freedom Fund Banquet, themed “Today’s Choice = Tomorrow’s Success,” at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Merced Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th St. The social hour is at 6 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person or $500 for a table of eight. Bunco Bash
The Livingston/Delhi VFW Auxiliary will host Bunco on Oct. 24. Never played? It only takes a few minutes to learn this fun game. There will be prizes, and before the Bunco game starts at noon. Soup and homemade bread will be served for lunch at 11 a.m. A $20 entry fee covers lunch and games. You do not have to be a member to play and it is open to both men and women.
