Melissa’s Mini Farm annual yard sale

Melissa’s Mini Farm will hold its annual yard sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at 2565 B&B Blvd. in Merced. Proceeds benefit the animals. Gently used donations of items are appreciated. For more information, call 209-384-8225.

Sober Fest coming to Merced

A drug and alcohol awareness, prevention and recovery event is planned for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Applegate Park, 1045 W. 25th St. in Merced. The event is hosted by the Merced County Sheriff’s Department, Probation Department and BI Incorporated. Sober Fest 2015 will feature testimonials from sober community members, including Merced County Day Reporting Center participants, as well as booths from community providers including Rescue Mission, Worknet, Merced County Mental Health and more. The event also will feature family-friendly activities including face painting, a motorcycle show, a bounce house, live bands and a DJ, and a raffle and prizes. Food vendors will be present.

Applegate Park Zoo ‘Fall into Autumn’

Applegate Park Zoo will hold its “Fall into Autumn” every Saturday in October from noon to 2 p.m. with games, crafts and stories planned to focus on this time of year. The zoo is at 1045 W. 25th St. in Merced, next to the Bear Creek Bike Path. Admission to the zoo is free for those under 5, $2 for ages 5 to 15, $3 for 16 to 61, and $1.50 for 62 and up. Merced College retired women’s luncheon

The monthly no-host luncheon of the retired women of Merced College will be held at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 8 at LaHacienda, 3355 G St. in Merced. No RSVP required.

Harvest Time Food Ministry yard sale

Harvest Time Food Ministry will host a fundraising yard sale from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 10 at R and 10th streets in Merced. The event raises money for the program, which provides food boxes to families in need. Fore more information, call 209-723-2395.

NAACP banquet

Merced County’s NAACP Chapter 1047 plans its annual Freedom Fund Banquet, themed “Today’s Choice = Tomorrow’s Success,” at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Merced Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th St. in Merced. Boys & Girls Club seeks alumni

The Boys & Girls Club of Merced County is searching for alumni. In the U.S., 11 million kids and teens leave school unsupervised and unsafe, with no place to go every afternoon.
