Fall Into Autumn
The Applegate Park Zoo will host its Fall Into Autumn event every Saturday in October from noon to 2 p.m. The events will include games, crafts and stories planned to focus on this colorful time of year. For more information, call 209-385-6840.
Storytime at Barnes & Noble
Barnes & Noble will host a Storytime for Kids event at 11 a.m. Saturday at 1720 W. Olive Ave. Children can hear the story “We’re in the Wrong Book,” by Richard Byrne. The event is free. For more information, call 209-386-0571.
Sober Fest
A drug and alcohol awareness, prevention and recovery event is planned for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Applegate Park, 1045 W. 25th St. The event is hosted by the Merced County Sheriff’s and Probation departments, and BI Inc. Sober Fest 2015 will feature testimonials from sober community members, including Merced County Day Reporting Center participants, as well as booths from various community providers including Rescue Mission, Work Net and Merced County Mental Health. The event will also feature family-friendly activities including face painting, a motorcycle show, a bounce house, live bands and a DJ, and a raffle and prizes. Food vendors will be present.
Walk for Life and Fun Run
The Alpha Pregnancy Help Center, a nonprofit organization that offers free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds, will have its annual Walk for Life and Fun Run on Saturday. The event will kick off at 9 a.m. at UC Merced. Activities will include music, food, and obstacle courses for kids. Suggested registration donation is $10. To register, go to www.alphaphc.com.
Harvest of Quilts
The Merced Gateway Quilters Guild will host its Harvest of Quilts from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Merced County Fairground Pavilion. Some items will be for sale or may be won through a boutique raffle. Activities for adults and children, including a treasure hunt for children, will be available. A lunch including a potato bar, salad and pie will be served along with drinks and desserts. Adult tickets are $7, and children 12 and under who are accompanied by an adult with a ticket get in free. La Grange Odd Fellows breakfast
La Grange Odd Fellows will host a breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Oct. 11. The menu includes biscuits and gravy, sausage, ham-and-cheese omelets and French toast, all for $6. Pride in Your Ride Car Show
The “Pride in Your Ride” auto show in support of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life will take place Oct. 10 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Macready Park at the Merced Regional Airport. Boys & Girls Club alumni
The Boys & Girls Club of Merced County is searching for alumni. In the U.S., 11 million kids and teens leave school unsupervised and unsafe, with no place to go every afternoon.
