UC Merced Courthouse Museum exhibit
The Merced County Courthouse Museum will open the “UC Merced at 10: A Decade of Building, Developing and Contributing to Our Community” exhibit at 5 p.m. Thursday at the museum, 21st and N streets. Merced-Atwater Tea Party meeting
The Merced-Atwater Tea Party regular monthly meeting will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Atwater Memorial Building, Fifth Street and Broadway Avenue, Atwater. The speaker will be Merced police Chief Norm Andrade. The group will also conduct its monthly straw poll for presidential candidates. The event is open to to the public.
Kayak instructor training
The East Merced Resource Conservation District and the Lower Merced River Stewardship Project are partnering Saturday to offer kayak instructor training at Lake Yosemite. For $50, those ages 16 and up can be certified as a USA Paddlesports basic kayaking instructor. The training will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 5620 N. Lake Road. La Grange Odd Fellows breakfast
The Odd Fellows are serving breakfast at the IOOF Hall in La Grange from 6 to 9 a.m. Saturday The menu is scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy with coffee and juice, for $6. NAUS meeting in Atwater
The National Association for Uniformed Services, H. Wayne Hein Chapter 18, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Castle Air Museum Banquet Room, 5050 Santa Fe Drive, Atwater. Merced County Genealogical Society meeting
Lewis M. Ruddick, a past president of the Genealogical Society of Stanislaus County and the editor of the society’s newsletter “Stanislaus Researcher,” will address the Merced County Genealogical Society at 1 p.m. Saturdayat the Gracey Room of the Merced County Library, 2100 O St. The meeting is open to all; no membership is required.
Storytime at Barnes & Noble
Barnes & Noble will host a Storytime for Kids at 11 a.m. Saturday at 1720 W. Olive Ave. Children can hear the story “Imaginary Fred,” by Eoin Colfer and Oliver Jeffers. The event is free. For more information, call 209-386-0571.
Annual Pedrozo dinner in El Nido
Supervisor John Pedrozo will host his annual Portuguese beans and linguica dinner at 5 p.m. Oct. 21 at the El Nido Community Hall, Highway 59, El Nido. All-you-can-eat linguica, Portuguese beans, rolls, salad and beverages will be served for $25 per person; takeout is available.
