Livingston High School Homecoming

The Livingston High School homecoming parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Main and C streets in Livingston and will proceed down Main Street to the high school. This year’s theme is “Toon Into LHS Homecoming.” Livingston will play Central Valley High School. The varsity game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and the homecoming king and queen will be crowned during halftime.

Merced Elks golf tournament

The Merced Elks Lodge will hold a charity golf tournament on Saturday at Rancho Del Rey Golf Course, 5250 Green Sands, Atwater. It is a shotgun start at 9 a.m. and check-in time is 8 a.m., with lunch available at the end of the tournament. There will be raffle prizes, team prizes and closest-to-the-hole prizes. NAUS meeting in Atwater

The National Association for Uniformed Services, H. Wayne Hein Chapter 18, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Castle Air Museum Banquet Room, 5050 Santa Fe Drive, Atwater. Fall Into Autumn event

The Applegate Park Zoo will host its Fall Into Autumn event every Saturday in October from noon to 2 p.m. The event includes games, crafts and stories planned to focus on this colorful time of year. For more information, call 209-385-6840.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s

The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Merced-area residents to participate in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The Merced walk will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday at Applegate Park in front of the amphitheater. Registration starts at 8 a.m.

Vision Fair in Merced

The Center of Vision Enhancement is hosting a Vision Fair for people with blindness or low vision. The event will provide information about resources and technology. Exhibits and free vision screenings will be available from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Merced Senior Community Center. For more information, call 209-722-8118.

Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble will host a Storytime for Kids at 11 a.m. Saturday at 1720 W. Olive Ave. Children can hear the story “Imaginary Fred,” by Eoin Colfer and Oliver Jeffers. The event is free. For more information, call 209-386-0571.

Bunco bash

The Livingston/Delhi VFW Auxiliary will host Bunco on Oct. 24. There will be prizes, and before the Bunco game starts at noon, soup and homemade bread will be served at 11 a.m. A $20 entry fee covers lunch and games. You do not have to be a member to play, and it is open to men and women. For more information, call 209-394-2468.

Salute to Veterans

Veterans are invited to Our Lady of Mercy’s 10th annual Salute to Veterans at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 10. Students are honored to welcome veterans to thank them for their sacrifice and service to our nation. The school is at 1400 E. 27th St. Parking is available on 27th Street and behind the school just east of Glen Avenue off of Santa Fe Avenlue.

Boys & Girls Club alumni

The Boys & Girls Club of Merced County is searching for alumni. In the U.S., 11 million kids and teens leave school unsupervised and unsafe, with no place to go, every afternoon. Alumni can help by becoming a Member for Life. Any one who attended a Boys & Girls Club, or who is a friend of the club, can go to www.bgcalum.org to become a registered Alumni & Friends Club member.
