Beers, Brats and Blues Oktoberfest Night

Club Mercedes presents Beers, Brats and Blues Oktoberfest Night Saturday at Club Mercedes Hall, 569 W. Ninth St. Doors open at 5 p.m. Music at 7 p.m. Music will be provided by Mike Hammar and the Nails. Single tickets cost $8 and couples are $15. No-host hot food and beverages available at extra cost. St. Anthony’s School yard sale

St. Anthony’s School will have a yard sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday in the parish hall, 1801 Winton Way, Atwater. Items from an estate as well as parish and school items will be sold including, missals, tapes, CDs, desks, organizers, bookshelves, knickknacks, coffee tables, sofas, chairs, books, lamps and filing cabinets. Proceeds go toward St. Anthony’s School.

Merced County Genealogical Society meeting

Lewis M. Ruddick, past president of the Genealogical Society of Stanislaus County and editor of the society newsletter, Stanislaus Researcher, will address the Merced County Genealogical Society at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Gracey Room of the Merced County Library, 2100 O St. The meeting is open to all; no membership is required.

Merced Elks golf tournament

The Merced Elks Lodge will hold a charity golf tournament Saturday at Rancho Del Rey Golf Course, 5250 Green Sands, Atwater. Shotgun start is at 9 a.m. and check-in time is 8 a.m., with lunch available at the end of the tournament. There will be raffle prizes, team prizes and closest-to-the-hole prizes. Storytime at Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble will host a Storytime for Kids at 11 a.m. Saturday at 1720 W. Olive Ave. Children can hear the story “Imaginary Fred,” by Eoin Colfer and Oliver Jeffers. The event is free. For more information, call 209-386-0571.

Free flu shots and medical screenings

Free flu shots and other medical screenings will be available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Merced County Office of Education, 632 W. 13th St. The event is one of several flu clinics throughout this month as part of Binational Health Week.

Food forest project meeting in Los Banos

Merced College’s Los Banos campus will host a community meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to discuss progress on the food forest project at the campus. A food forest is a design concept in which landscaping patterns mimic that of a forest. The goal of the project is to repurpose an inactive 1-acre lot next to Los Banos Creek into a sustainable woodland ecosystem. The meeting will be held at the Los Banos campus in Room A-103, at 22240 Highway 152.

Holiday Boutique in Atwater

Soroptimist International of Atwater will host the 29th annual Holiday Boutique at the Atwater Community Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 7 at 760 E. Bellevue Road. The boutique will include items for sale, such as jewelry, art, crafts, baked goods and gifts. A snack shack will sell breakfast, lunch and snacks from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets for a drawing will be on sale for $1 each or six for $5. First prize is $500, second prize is a quilt valued at $350 and third prize is $100. Admission is free. For more information, call 209-358-1927.
