Storytime at Barnes & Noble
Barnes & Noble will host a Storytime for Kids at 11 a.m. Saturday at 1720 W. Olive Ave. Children can hear the story “Click, Clack, Boo!” by Coreen Cronin. The event is free. For more information, call 209-386-0571.
Lions in Sight event in Livingston
The Lions White Cane Road Block to collect money for Lions in Sight will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Main and F streets in Livingston. The project is an International Lions Project that recycles eyeglasses, has eliminated River Blindness, and is working on all other causes of blindness around the world. Fall Into Autumn event
The Applegate Park Zoo is hosting its Fall Into Autumn event every Saturday during October from noon to 2 p.m. The events include games, crafts and stories planned to focus on this colorful time of year. For more information, call 209-385-6840.
Takeout rigatoni dinners
The Merced Breakfast Lions Club’s annual rigatoni takeout dinners will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Italo-American Lodge, 1351 W. 18th St. The cost is $8 and includes rigatoni, salad and rolls. Tiny Tots Pumpkin Party
The city of Merced is inviting families to its annual Tiny Tots Pumpkin Party on Wednesday. Children ages 3 to 6 can decorate a pumpkin and partake in other Halloween fun. Costumes are welcome. The party starts at 5:15 p.m. at the Merced Civic Center, 678 W. 18th St. Cost is $5 per child. Space is limited, so preregistration is required. To register, call 209-385-6298.
Fraud Prevention Town Hall
AARP Merced and Assemblyman Adam Gray, D-Merced, are hosting a Fraud Prevention Town Hall from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Merced Senior Community Center, 755 West 15th St. The CSLEA Consumer Protection and Public Safety Foundation has teamed with the State Bar of California and state legislators to help arm residents with tools to fight identity theft and consumer fraud. After the town hall, a barbecue rib lunch will be served for $5. The meeting is open to the public.
Free mammograms
Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock will provide free mammograms for uninsured and underinsured women. A $20,000 grant from the Bill and Elise Ahlem Cancer Endowment will allow the hospital to provide screenings to the first 100 women who sign up. For an appointment, call 209-669-4600.
Lap swimming
Merced College Community Services will be offering lap swimming beginning Nov. 2 – from 5:30 to 6:30 a.m.; noon to 1 p.m.; and 5 to 6 p.m. – on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through Dec. 18. The cost is $40. For more information, call 209-384-6224 or email communitysvc@mccd.edu.
Intermediate and advanced Excel 2013
