Fall Into Autumn
The Applegate Park Zoo will host its Fall Into Autumn event every Saturday in October from noon to 2 p.m. The events will include games, crafts and stories planned to focus on this colorful time of year. For more information, call 209-385-6840.
Sweet swap
Trade leftover Halloween candy for prizes from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at Dr. Von Goodin’s dental office, 830 W. Olive Ave. Candy donated is sent to troops in the U.S. and overseas. For every pound of candy, you receive a treasure box. First 100 Kids receive a complimentary goody bag filled with surprises. Face painting, a balloon artist and prize drawings will be happening. Holiday Boutique in Atwater
Soroptimist International of Atwater will host the 29th annual Holiday Boutique at the Atwater Community Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 7 at 760 E. Bellevue Road. The boutique will include items for sale, such as jewelry, art, crafts, baked goods and gifts. A snack shack will sell breakfast, lunch and snacks from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets for a drawing will be on sale for $1 each or six for $5. First prize is $500, second prize is a quilt valued at $350 and third prize is $100. Admission is free. For more information, call 209-358-1927.
Merced County Humane Society adoption event
The Merced County Humane Society will be at the Merced PetSmart on Nov. 8. There will be puppies, kittens, dogs and cats who have been raised in foster homes and are ready to find forever homes. Marine Corps birthday celebration
The American Legion will celebrate the Marines Corps’ 240th birthday at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at 1939 W. Main St. The celebration includes a flag ceremony and cake-cutting at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call Gayle Callahan 209-722-7366.
Salute to veterans
Veterans are invited to Our Lady of Merced School’s 10th annual Salute to Veterans at 8:30 a.m. Nov.10. Students are honored to welcome veterans to thank them for their sacrifice and service to our nation. The school is at 1400 E. 27th St. Parking is available on 27th Street and behind the school just east of Glen Avenue off Santa Fe.
Aggie Fest
The 2015 Aggie Fest, sponsored by the Merced College Agriculture Division and Yosemite Farm Credit, returns to the Merced County Fairgrounds from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 14. More than 200 brands of beer and platters of sausages and cheese will be featured, along with silent and live auctions. Tickets are $40 each in advance, and the organizers plan a deal for tickets bought in packages. Drive-Thru Pasta Dinner
The Buhach Colony Music Boosters is having a Drive-Thru Pasta Dinner from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 21 at Buhach Colony High School. Dinner will include pasta, salad and a roll. Tickets are $10 for an adult; $8 for a senior or child. For more information or to buy tickets, call 209-947-1133.
Women’s Ministry craft fundraiser
