Parkinson’s Support Group
The final meeting of the year of the Parkinson’s Support Group will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at 1450 E. 27th St. in Merced. The guest speaker will be Otis Hutchinson.
Veterans tribute program
Forever Free, presented by the Fremont Honor Choir, is made up of 60 students from the fourth through sixth grades from Fremont Elementary. They will share this program with the veterans of the Merced area. The free program is set for 6 p.m. Thursdayat the Merced Legion Hall, 939 W. Main St. For more information, call 209-947-3673.
Mariposa Art Company workshop
Mariposa Art Company is set to host a free Inking 101 workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the gallery at 1637 M St. in Merced. The class focuses on technique, tips and tools. Merced-Atwater Tea Party meeting
The Merced-Atwater Tea Party’s monthly meeting will be held at Atwater Memorial Hall, Fifth and Broadway, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Jack Mobley, a candidate for Merced County District 4 supervisor, will address the group. There will also be the monthly straw poll for the 2016 presidential candidates. The meeting is open to the public.
Merced Sierra Club meeting
The Merced Sierra Club program will be watching and discussing two cutting-edge talks: “The Intersection of Technology and Biology” and “How to Fix Our Democracy” at 7 p.m. Thursday at Merced United Methodist Church, 899 Yosemite Parkway.
Wrestling with Hunger event
Lucha Xtreme will host the “Wrestling With Hunger” event in Merced on Saturday along with a canned-food drive for families in need. The event, held at American Legion Post 83 on Main Street, will feature wrestlers such as Al Azar, El Guerrero de la Muerte, Jesse “The Snake” Poole, Mortal, Manny “Raging Bull” Fernandez and the Texas Hitmen. The event is free, and seats are first come, first served. Those who attend are encouraged to make a canned-food donation. Merced Women’s Club Christmas Social
The Merced Women’s Club is holding its annual Christmas Social at 1 p.m. Dec. 1 at 707 W. 22nd St. in Merced. Activities include bridge, cards, bingo and board games, along with desserts, beverages and raffle prizes. Donations of $10 per person appreciated. Call 209-723-1169 for ticket information.
Atwater Christmas Parade entries
“Christmas Past, Present and Future: is the theme for Atwater’s annual Christmas Parade at 7 p.m. Dec. 4. This event, hosted by the Atwater Chamber of Commerce, begins downtown and concludes with a visit from Santa on the grounds of the historic Bloss Home, Broadway and First Street. Free errands Tuesdays for seniors
The Foundation for Wellness Professionals, a nonprofit group of volunteers, is offering to run errands in the Merced/Atwater area at no cost between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesdays until the end of the year for senior citizens and others who are unable to leave their homes.
