VFW Burger Benefit
The Veterans of Foreign Wars of Merced and Atwater will host a Burger Benefit at the Merced and Atwater locations. When mentioned, Carl’s Jr. will donate 25 percent of all sales to the VFW. The benefit will run on Wednesday and Thursday, all day.
Charlie Brown at Playhouse Merced
“You’re a good man, Charlie Brown” opens at Playhouse Merced. The family-friendly musical based on the Charles Schulz comic runs for three weekends. Tickets can be purchased by calling Playhouse Merced at 209-725-8587 or going to their website at www.playhousemerced.com.
La Grange Odd Fellows Breakfast
Start out the New Year with a resolution to have a good old-fashioned breakfast once a month in La Grange. The Odd Fellows of LaFayette Historical Lodge No. 65 remind the public about their monthly breakfast, which takes place every second Sunday at the IOOF Hall in downtown La Grange. The first one of the year will take place Jan. 10. The hall is open early from 7 to 11 a.m., with a menu of biscuits and gravy, sausage, ham and cheese omelets and French toast. Complimentary coffee and orange juice round out the meal, all for $6.
Look Good Feel Better Workshop
The American Cancer Society will host a free two-hour workshop for female cancer patients experiencing appearance-related side effects from their treatment. The workshop Look Good Feel Better will take place Jan. 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mercy UC Davis Cancer Center, 3850 G St. The workshop repeats every second Monday of the month.
Uniformed Services Meeting
The National Association for Uniformed Services, H. Wayne Hein Chapter 18, will be meeting Saturday, Jan. 16, at 10 a.m. at the Castle Air Museum Banquet Room. The speaker will be John Ceccoli, Merced County Veterans Service Officer, who will speak on subjects of interest to all veterans. Volunteer for American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society is in need of a volunteer at its wig bank in Merced. The volunteer must be willing to help female cancer patients try on wigs at least one day a week for at least three hours. The new volunteer will be trained. Interested persons should call the American Cancer Society office in Fresno at 559-451-0163.
Buhach Colony High Crab Feast
The Buhach Colony High School Music Boosters will hold their 11th annual Crab Feast on Feb. 6, from 5:30 p.m. until midnight, at the Merced Fairgrounds. There will be a jazz band, dancing and auction. Tickets are $45 before Jan. 10, and $50 after. Contact Teresa Jacobsen to purchase tickets, or for more information at 209-658-9008.
