Women’s Bible study
Coffee Break, an interdenominational women’s Bible study, will begin a 10-week study on the Old Testament book of Isaiah, beginning Tuesday. Women from all churches are welcome to attend. The study will be from 10 a.m. to noon at Yosemite Church, 2230 E. Yosemite Ave. Free child care is available. For more information, call 209-383-5038, ext. 16.
Day at Black Oak Casino
The Italian Catholic Federation is sponsoring a day at Black Oak Casino on Jan. 25. The cost is $28 per person. People will receive $10 for gaming, $5 for table play and $5 toward lunch. There will be refreshments, a free raffle and bingo on the bus. The bus will depart from the parking lot across from the post office at 23rd and M streets at 9 a.m.; boarding begins at 8:45. Please carry a driver’s license or other photo ID. The bus will depart the casino at 3:30 p.m. and be back in Merced by 5. Reservations may be made by calling Nettie Descalso at 209-383-4819 or Arlene Gach at 209-722-9413. Checks should be made out to Italian Catholic Federation, and mailed to 2829 Bedford Drive, Merced, CA 95340. The deadline to hold a reservation is Jan. 22.
Vintage Toy and Collectible Show
The Merced Elks Lodge will host a Vintage Toy and Collectible Show from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Elks Lodge, 1910 M St. Early-bird entrance is from 9 to 11 a.m. Admission is $5, or $10 for early-bird entrance. Kids under 10 years old get in free. Parking is also free. For more information, call 209-631-6277.
Disney Institute course for Merced professionals
The Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce will host Disney’s Approach to Business Excellence, a one-day professional development course by the Disney Institute, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at Gateway Gardens. The event will help professionals in the area understand the power of leadership values and discover how customer loyalty can be established. Public input for Area Agency on Aging
Every four years, the Merced County Area Agency on Aging is required by the state to submit an area plan. An important component of the planning process is to get input from the community. This will include scheduled public hearings, focus groups and a survey posted online. Public hearings are scheduled for Feb. 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. at 645 Seventh St. in Los Banos, and Feb. 22 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at 851 W. 23rd St. in Merced. Focus groups are scheduled for Jan. 12 from 3 to 5 p.m. at 645 Seventh St. in Los Banos, and Jan. 19 from 3 to 5 p.m. and Jan. 21 from 1 to 3 p.m. at 851 W. 23rd St. in Merced.
