Second Saturdays with South Pacific Dance Company

The enthusiasm and warmth of Becky Manandic, better known as Aunty Becky, will have your children dancing the hula and humming Polynesian melodies along with her South Pacific Dance Company during this month’s Second Saturdays event. The next event will take place Feb. 13 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St., Merced. The cost is $3 for children; adults attend free.

Singing Valentines

The Golden Valley Men’s Barbershop Chorus is doing Singing Valentines for the 30th year in the Merced and Atwater areas. A barbershop quartet will sing a romantic song, present a card and silk rose, and take a digital photo of the recipient with the quartet. Call 209-383-3808 for reservations on Feb. 12, 13 or 14. Cost is $40 or $45 if by credit card.

Art & Spirits workshop

The Merced County Arts Council and Arbor Gallery will host a Art & Spirits workshop. Enjoy an evening of wine, painting and fun Feb. 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Whether you’re an artist or have never painted anything, it doesn’t matter. An experienced local artist will show you everything you need to know and all refreshments and supplies are included in the $35 charge. Veterans Job and Info Fair

The Merced Veteran Employee Committee will host a Job and Information Fair on Feb. 25 from 10 to 2 p.m. The event will take place at the American Legion Hall, 939 West Main St. About 60 exhibitors are expected to be on hand to discuss openings with job-seekers and provide veteran information. People are encouraged to bring résumés and dress to impress. For more information, call 209-576-6118.

Parent Institute Conference

Parents, caregivers, guardians, grandparents, community members, elected officials and others will come together for the third annual Parent Institute Conference taking place Feb. 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Golden Valley High School in Merced. The free event promises to provide informational resources, learning, motivation, and the tools to help adults prepare youths for a future in which they can become well-educated, responsible and engaged individuals in their respective communities.
