Soccer tryouts

Card Party and Game Day
The 21st Annual Jane Goul Card Party and Game Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Senior Citizens Center, 15th and O Streets. The cost is $8 per person. Ballet

Livingston special meeting
The Livingston City Council plans a joint meeting with the Planning Commission at 7 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 1416 C St. The council will discuss the Draft Housing Element, which will include public comment. For more, call 209-394-8041.
Mature Driver Improvement
The Merced College noncredit program is offering a Mature Driver Improvement class from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the college. Many insurance companies offer discounts to drivers 50 and older who complete this course. For more information, call 209-381-6540.
College lecture series
Merced College’s 2015-16 Performance and Lecture Series features the story of one man’s mission to save lives in Africa during “Going Home: One Man’s Journey to Save Lives” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Lesher Room 111 at the 3600 M St. campus. Free health screenings
Castle Family Health Centers will hold its ninth annual Day of Service from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 12 at the Bloss Clinic, 1251 Grove Ave., Atwater. The free event offers health screenings for adults and children. There will be music, games and activities for children along with free lunch and raffles. Applegate Zoo
The Applegate Zoo is open every day 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1045 W. 25th St. Entry is free for children younger than 5 and for Merced Zoological Society members.
