Nonprofit lecture

A lecture presented by nonprofit Sacred Rok will feature guest speakers at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at UC Merced, 5200 Lake Road, in the California Room. The presentation is co-hosted by the Yosemite Leadership Program and the National Parks Institute. For more information, go to www.sacredrok.org.

Merced Criterium

Toy show

A Chaos Collectibles toy show will pre presented from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Merced Elks Lodge, 1910 M St. The show plans an appearance from Kathy Garver, who starred as Cissy in “Family Affair” in the late 1960s and voiced Firestar in the 1980s cartoon “Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends.” The entry fee is $5 for anyone older than 10. HSR meeting

A high-speed rail Visioning Workshop is planned at 6 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 678 W. 18th St. Planners are calling for input from residents, business owners and any other interested parties from the Merced area. Grief group

Hinds Hospice Center for Grief and Healing plans grief support groups beginning Feb. 29. Adult grief groups will meet from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Hinds Hospice office, 410 W. Main St., Suite H. For more information, call David Silveira at 209-383-3123 or email dsilveira@hindshospice.org.

Dancing for Birth

Merced College Community Services plans several Dancing for Birth classes for pregnant women, new moms and newborns. Four different sessions are offered from February through June for classes that run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Each session is $25. ‘Beauty and the Beast Jr.’

“Beauty and the Beast Jr.” will be performed by Weaver Performing Arts at 7 p.m. March 4, as well as shows at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. March 5, at the Merced Theatre, 301 W. Main St. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Merced Theatre Box Office or at www.mercedtheatre.org/tickets.

‘Heart for Art’

The California Retired Teachers group plans “Heart for Art” at 10:30 a.m. March 17 at the Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St. The presenters will offer lessons on collage and watercolors. Box lunches are $20 and must be reserved by March by calling Shirley Vaughn-Hulbert at 209-722-4782.

Bunco and lunch

The Livingston-Delhi Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary plans a lunch and Bunco Bash at 11 a.m. March 12 at Livingston Veterans Memorial Hall, 1605 Seventh St. The event is open to everyone and tickets are $20, which includes lunch. For more information, call Sue Wells at 209-852-9068 or Jan Purganan at 209-394-2468. All proceeds will benefit VFW programs.
