Women Build kickoff
Habitat for Humanity Westside plans its International Women Build Day from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Espana’s Restaurant, 1460 E. Pacheco Blvd., Los Banos. The group plans a presentation and tips on fundraising for the event. For more information, call 209-509-9026.
Code night

Church BBQ
The 69th Annual Deep Pit Barbeque prepared by the men of Le Grand Methodist Church is 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Le Grand Elementary School, 13071 Le Grand Road. The cost is $12.50 for adults; $6 for children 6 to 12 years of age; and free for children 5 or younger. Tickets will be available at the door. Corned beef and cabbage
Ballico American Legion Post 668’s annual corned beef and cabbage dinner will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saint Patrick’s Day, March 17, at the Legion Hall, 11303 Ballico Ave., Ballico. The food typically sells out. Tickets are $10. For more information, call 209-769-5625.
Casino trip

Spring veggies
A “Spring Vegetable Garden” class will take place at 11 a.m. March 19 at Merced Gardens and Nursery, 1007 Tahoe St. Presented by University of California Cooperative Extension master gardeners, the seminars are held in an event tent. Indoor soccer
The city of Merced’s recreation department and the Indoor Sports Center will offer indoor youth soccer on Saturdays, April 2 through May 21, for ages 3 to 10 at the center, 115 Heron Way. Shoes for animals
The Merced Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is asking for gently worn shoes through April 29. A fundraising group will make donations to the SPCA for every pair of shoes they collect and the shoes will go to another cause. Shoes can be left at the shelter, 1021 E. Applegate Zoo
The Applegate Zoo is open every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1045 W. 25th St. Entry is free for children younger than 5 and for Merced Zoological Society members.
