Retired women lunch

The Merced College Retired Women’s monthly luncheon is 11 a.m. Thursday at La Hacienda 2 Restaurant, 3355 G St. No RSVP required for the no-host luncheon.

Youth Council

Deep pit BBQ

The 69th annual Deep Pit Barbeque prepared by the men of the Le Grand Methodist Church from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Le Grand Elementary School’s all-purpose room, 13071 Le Grand Road in Le Grand. The meal includes barbequed beef, beans, salad, roll, butter, dessert and drink. Cost is $12.50 for adults, $6 for children 6 to 12 years of age, and children 5 years old and younger are free. Restorative Justice Conference

Le Grand High School Restorative Justice League plans the fourth Annual Restorative Justice Conference from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. March 12 at Cesar E. Chavez Middle School, 161 Plainsburg Road in Planada. Sierra Club meets

The public is welcome to hear park ranger Madeline Yancey speak on “Nature at Your Backdoor – Wildlife Refuges of Merced and Stanislaus Counties” at 7 p.m. March 17 at Unity Church, 305 W. 16th St. Park in the back lot and enter there. For more, call Rod Webster, 209-723-4747.

T-shirt fundraiser

New Beginnings for Merced County Animals is offering T-shirts and sweatshirts that read “Stop the Littering” and are decorated with animals and paw prints. The $15 shirts, and $20 sweatshirts come in a variety of colors and can be ordered online at www.booster.com/new-beginnings-fundraiser-3. The campaign ends March 17. All proceeds go to transport and medical expenses for animals of Merced County. For more, call 209-354-4667.

Food sustainability

UC Merced will host Fedele Bauccio, CEO and co-founder of Bon Appetit Management Co., at 1:30 p.m. March 17 in the California Room of the campus, 5200 N. Lake Road. Plant sale

Merced College will hold its annual plant sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 26 at the greenhouses of the college, 3600 M St. There will be tomatoes, peppers, vegetables, herbs, perennials, succulents, fruit and shade trees, among other plants. For more, call Elaine Valladao at 209-631-2026.
