Tea Party meets
The Atwater-Merced Tea Party will meet 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 17 at the Atwater VFW Memorial Hall, 1390 Broadway Ave. Peter Friedman, who makes public appearances and speaks on radio shows, will discuss Muslim resettlement in the U.S. There is no cost to attend the meeting. MS support
The Merced multiple sclerosis support group will meet 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, 500 Buena Vista Ave. in Merced. This group provides support and education for individuals diagnosed with MS and their families. For more, call Susan at 209-631-7279.
Fill a bag
The Friends of the Merced County Library plan a spring sale called “Fill a Bag,” when shoppers can fill a bag with books for $3. The sale has begun at the main branch, 2100 O St., which opens at 10 a.m. every day, but is closed Sunday. For more, call the library at 209-385-7484.
Grant application
The Wahnetta Hall Trust Fund, doled out by Merced City Council, is taking applications for the $1,240 available this year for a program or concert in Applegate Park. The application deadline is March 17. Nonprofits interested in applying should submit their letter of request to Mike Conway, director of the Office of Recreation, 678 W. 18th Street, Merced, 95340. La Grange breakfast
The La Grange Odd Fellows serve breakfast 8 to 11 a.m this Sunday, as they do every second Sunday of the month. The menu includes biscuits and gravy, sausage, ham and cheese omelets and French toast. Festival entries
Merced College Film Club is accepting entries for an upcoming festival. Films should be submitted via email to mercedcollegefilmclub@gmail.com, or a DVD can be mailed to professor William Baker, IAC 248, Stop 34, Merced College, 3600 M St., Merced, 95348. School gala
The St. Anthony School Parents’ Club plans “A Knight’s Gala” at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Atwater APC Hall, 1420 Third St. The annual fundraiser features a steak and chicken dinner catered by Chefanelli’s.
