Carmel-by-the-Sea

Food bank boxes
Merced County Food Bank’s Drought Food Assistance Program is a free temporary program designed to provide assistance to people in Merced County. Those receiving a food box will be asked to self-certify that they live in a household where drought conditions have caused their underemployment, unemployment or reduced their income. People can receive the roughly 30-pound boxes of food up to two times a week. The Merced County Food Bank at 2000 W. Olive Ave. is open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday. For more, call 209-726-3663.
Farmers market
Merced’s certified farmers market is 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday in the parking lot at 16th and Canal streets. For more, go to www.mercedcfm.com.
Eyeglass drive
Merced optometrist Neil Nebeker is collecting used eyeglasses to be delivered to people in Mexicali, Mexico, as part of a donation program led by the Groveland Rotary Club. Glasses should be in good condition, without deep scratches, broken frames or missing lenses. They can be donated between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through March 28 at Advanced Eye Healthcare, 197 W. El Portal Drive, Suite A. For more information, call 209-384-2110.
LB lecture series
The Los Banos Milliken Museum’s third annual Charles Sawyer Memorial Lecture is 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Ted Falasco Arts center, 1105 Fifth St. A reception with wine and appetizers starts the night off. Tickets are $10 and available at the door. For more, call 209-826-5505.
Gospel concert
The Parks family from Branson, Mo., will perform Southern gospel music with a country flavor from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, 1407 Merced Ave.
