VFW benefit
Merced and Atwater locations of Carl’s Jr. are part of a Veterans of Foreign Wars fundraiser all-day Wednesday and Thursday. The restaurants have pledged 25 percent of sales from those days to the local VFW.
Mother’s Day
American Legion Post 83 plans a Mother’s Day Spring Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 7 at the Veterans Memorial Building, 939 W. Main St. Cost is $50 for vendors. Fairgoers get in free. For more call Linda Perry at 209-769-8499 or email jackperry@gmail.com.
Siege weapons
The Spring 2016 Physics 4A Siege Weapons Competition is 2-4 p.m. Wednesday in the Merced College Practice Soccer Fields, which are next to Tri-College Center on G Street. There is no cost to watch the catapults and trebuchets. For more, call the Merced Public Affairs Office at 209-381-6470.
Odd Fellows breakfast
The Odd Fellows of LaFayette Historical Lodge #65 plans its breakfast, which it does on the second Sunday of each month, 8-11 a.m. April 10 at the IOOF Hall, 30018 Yosemite Boulevard in La Grange. Carmel-by-the-Sea

MAGA golf tourney
The Merced MAGA Golf Tournament registration is required by Sunday for the 9 a.m. April 17 tourney at Atwater’s Rancho Del Rey Golf Course, 5250 Green Sands Ave. Entries should be sent to Merced MAGA P.O. Container herb gardens

YosemiTea Party
The 21st annual Tea Party in the Historic Courtroom at the Courthouse Museum is 12:30-4 p.m. April 9 in the museum at the corner of N and 21st streets. “YosemiTea Party” is this year’s theme. There will be four seatings: 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30, which will each last for 40 minutes. Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $10 for children 10 and younger. Farmers market
Merced’s certified farmers market is 8 a.m.-noon every Saturday in the parking lot at 16th and Canal streets. For more, go to www.mercedcfm.com.
