Merced Art Hop today

The first Merced Art Hop take places downtown from 5 to 9 p.m. today. Dozens of businesses will host artists inside or outside stores on Main Street, generally between Martin Luther King Jr. Way and N Street. Outdoor light and craft exhibits will also be on display, and there will be music as well. For more information, visit www.mercedarthop.org.

Elks Park breakfast

Merced Elks Park is holding its monthly pancake breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Merced Elks Lodge, 1910 M St. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and fruit with orange juice or coffee. Bloody Marys will also be offered. Donation is $6 for adults, $3 for children. All proceeds benefit Merced Elks Park projects. Call (209) 761-6801 for additional information.

Menudo at Club Mercedes

Club Mercedes (a nonprofit organization) serves menudo every Sunday at 569 W. 9th St. in Merced. Serving time 8 a.m. until noon or until we sell out. Prices are $7 for a small bowl or $8 for a large bowl. Hot tortillas, sweet bread and coffee included. $5 Bloody Mary specials and other beverages are available. Genealogical Society meeting

Learn how to trace your roots at our annual program for beginners. Get started with a free packet of materials, forms and tips. Join us at the Merced County Genealogical Society meeting at 1 p.m. Jan. 24 in the Gracey Room, Merced County Library, 2100 O St. The meeting is open to all, no membership is required.

Church luncheon

Atwater Baptist Church will host a Keen-Ager’s luncheon at noon Tuesday. Guest speaker will be Shar Herrera, executive director of Merced County Court Appointed Special Advocates. Herrera will give information about CADA and answer questions about the role of local people in its efforts. The church is located at 2124 First St., Atwater. Pasta fundraiser for Castle

The Castle Air Museum will have a pasta dinner fundraiser from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Atwater Community Center, 760 E. Bellevue Road in Atwater. The cost is $10. Dine in an Italian atmosphere with the live music of Maxwell Norton’s Quartet, or pick up dinner for takeout. Covered CA Open Enrollment

Covered California open enrollment ends Feb. 15. Catholic Charities is having a special enrollment event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 24. Certified enrollment counselor Sandra P Thiruvalluvan and certified insurance agent Marion Mitchell will be working together to meet the needs of the Merced community. Call for appointments. Super Bowl party

A Super Bowl party will be held at the American Legion, 939 W. Main St., Merced, at 3 p.m. Feb. 1. Finger foods, free raffle, drinks. Bring your best potluck food. Kickoff is 4 p.m. Wear your team jersey and root for your team.
