HSR in Madera

Free computer class

Merced College Noncredit program is offering a free beginning computer class from 9 a.m.-noon every Friday from now until May 27 at the college’s Education Center, which is near G Street and University Drive. Hoops tourney

The fourth annual Merced Community Violence Intervention Program three-on-three charity basketball tournament is Saturday at El Capitan High School, 100 Farmland Road in Merced. Preschool

St. Anthony Preschool summer session will be 7:30-11:30 a.m. June 1-20 at the church campus, 1801 Winton Way in Atwater. Parents may select any day or days for their child to attend for one price of $335 prepaid. Snacks are provided. Program is contingent on a minimum of 10 enrollees. Jazz Day at UC

Mercy Lit Up! In Celebration of International Jazz Day 2016 features the Ernie Bucio Little Big Band at 7 p.m. April 29 in Lakireddy Auditorium COB 102 at UC Merced, 5200 N. Lake Road. Soccer camp

The Livingston Recreation Department is sponsoring the Challenger British Soccer Camp for children 3-12 years old from June 13-17 at the Max Foster Sports Complex, 2600 Walnut Ave. in Livingston. Price is $30-$50 and the time is 5-8 p.m. depending on the child’s age. Includes a soccer ball and T-shirt. Animal carriers

New Beginnings of Merced said it is in need of medium- and large-sized carriers for animals they transport to no-kill rescues each month. Used carriers in usable condition, which would be appropriate for animals in the 40-pound range or up to 70 pounds, are acceptable as well as new carriers or monetary donations. Receipts can be provided for tax purposes. To donate a carrier, call 209-769-8953.

Quilters guild

Gateway Quilters’ Guild is a nonprofit in Merced County that meets at 7 p.m. on the third Monday each month. Anyone is welcome to join next Monday’s meeting , at the Merced County Health Department, 260 E. 15th St. For more call Barbara Scott at 209-658-7227.

NAUS meets

The National Association for Uniformed Services, H. Wayne Hein Chapter 18, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday April 16 at the Castle Air Museum banquet room, 5050 Santa Fe Drive.
