Enroll for Livingston Waves

The Livingston Waves Swim Team will be enrolling 5- to 18-year-old swimmers through May 13 at City Hall, 1416 C St. in Livingston. The program begins practice in April and will run through the end of July. Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool without assistance. Registration forms are available on the city website, www.livingstoncity.com. For more information, call the Recreation Department at 209-394-8830.

Helping Hands

The Helping Hands Day of Service will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at locations around Merced. Go to the www.justserve.org and pick a service project at Applegate Zoo, Merced County Library, Yosemite Lake or several other places. All ages are welcome. Livingston Museum open house

The Livingston Historical Museum plans an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. May 15 at the museum, 604 Main St. in Livingston. Refreshments will be provided.

AARP meeting set

The April meeting of Merced Chapter 282 of AARP will be at 9:30 a.m. April 27 at the Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th St. The meeting is part of the “getting to know you” session featuring Mike Samburg and Glenda Policast. Bring your dancing shoes for the program this month featuring country-western music. Refreshments will be served.

Preschool summer session

St. Anthony Preschool’s summer session will be from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. June 1-20 at the church campus, 1801 Winton Way in Atwater. Parents may select any day or days for their child to attend for the prepaid price of $335. Snacks are provided. Program is contingent on a minimum of 10 enrollees. Soccer camp planned

The Livingston Recreation Department is sponsoring Challenger British Soccer Camp for children 3-12 years old from June 13-17 at the Max Foster Sports Complex, 2600 Walnut Ave. in Livingston. The camp runs from 5-8 p.m., depending on the child’s age. The price is $30-$50, and includes a soccer ball and T-shirt. Quilters guild to meet

Gateway Quilters Guild is a nonprofit in Merced County that meets at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of each month. Anyone is welcome to join. The next meeting is Monday at the Merced County Health Department, 260 E. 15th St. For more information, call Barbara Scott at 209-658-7227.

Microsoft Excel classes

Merced College Community Services will offer intermediate and advanced Microsoft Excel 2013 classes from 8:30-11:30 a.m. April 29 through May 13. Cost is $145 per person. For more information, call 209-384-6224 or email communitysvc@mccd.edu.

Denim Day buttons

The Valley Crisis Center is observing Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April by asking for a $5 donation before Denim Day on April 27. Everyone who donates gets a $5 “Denim Day” button. F&M Bank in Merced has pledged to match the donations taken at their G Street location. For more information, call the center at 209-725-7900 or go to www.valleycrisiscenter.org.
