Crab feed

The second annual Merced High School FFA Crab Feed will be held Jan. 31 at the school gym. Doors open at 5 p.m., with a silent auction at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. There will also be a dessert auction and a live auction. The event is the FFA chapter’s largest fundraiser. The proceeds are used for out-of-area FFA trips, leadership conferences and chapter supplies. Tickets are $45 each. Menudo at Club Mercedes

Club Mercedes (a nonprofit organization) serves menudo every Sunday at 569 W. Ninth St. in Merced. Serving time is from 8 a.m. until noon or until it’s sold out. Prices are $7 for a small bowl or $8 for a large bowl. Hot tortillas, sweet bread and coffee included. $5 Bloody Mary specials and other beverages are available. Genealogical Society meeting

Learn how to trace your roots at our annual program for beginners. Get started with a free packet of materials, forms and tips. Join us at the Merced County Genealogical Society meeting at 1 p.m. Jan. 24 in the Gracey Room, Merced County Library, 2100 O St. The meeting is open to all; no membership is required.

Church luncheon

Atwater Baptist Church will host a Keen-Agers luncheon at noon Tuesday. Guest speaker will be Shar Herrera, executive director of Merced County Court Appointed Special Advocates. Herrera will give information about CASA and answer questions about the role of local people in its efforts. The church is at 2124 First St. Lunch is potluck, and the community is invited. Pasta fundraiser for Castle

The Castle Air Museum will have a pasta dinner fundraiser from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at Atwater Community Center, 760 E. Bellevue Road. The cost is $10. Dine in an Italian atmosphere with the live music of Maxwell Norton’s Quartet, or pick up dinner for takeout. Covered California enrollment

Covered California open enrollment ends Feb. 15. Catholic Charities is having a special enrollment event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 24. Certified enrollment counselor Sandra P. Thiruvalluvan and certified insurance agent Marion Mitchell will be working together to meet the needs of the Merced community. Call for appointments. Super Bowl party

A Super Bowl party will be held at the American Legion, 939 W. Main St., Merced, at 3 p.m. Feb. 1. Finger foods, free raffle, drinks. Bring your best potluck food. Kickoff is 4 p.m. Wear your team jersey and root for your team.
